The Grinning Fortunes are a folk deity which the world has never abandoned or grown out of, yet never particularly embraced as a powerful deity worth anything more than the most meager of bribes. Nevertheless, The Grinning Fortunes remain enormously popular among the impoverished and superstitious, as their promise of simple protection for simple favors rings true with those who ask small favors for small sacrifices. The Grinning Fortunes are typically represented as a stacked triangle of three round, hugely grinning faces—one representing wealth, another health, and the largest one happiness. Convention holds that one may invoke the Grinning Fortune’s favor by keeping their talismans on one’s person, or by leaving a hot meal at one of their wayside shrines—which can be found almost anywhere or even made on the fly, if there are three roundish rocks available. Since the Fortunes are rather universally acknowledged as gods of small wants and small tasks (by those who believe in them at all), they are usually considered too insignificant to maintain a clergy. Which is not to say that they don’t exist—only that they are few and far between, unorganized, and most likely rather innocuous aside from seeming unusually contented.
The Grinning Fortunes are considered neutral good deities associated with the domains of Luck, Good, and Healing. Their favored weapon is the sling.
